there is definitely a stigma attached to oil-based cleansers and moisturizers alike. that's probably the #1 concern/push-back we get from consumers learning about our line...the fact that we use oils in many of our formulas.
well, contrary to popular belief (and as counter-intuitive as it might sound), the remedy for oily skin (or any skin type for that matter) is NOT to remove oils from your routine. in fact, you should be incorporating them, as they contain no "filler" ingredients and are jam packed with antioxidants, vitamins and essential fatty acids - the pure goodness your skin needs to fight wrinkles, age spots....and wait for it...even acne! now with that said, the key here is to identify oils that are non-comedogenic. comedo-what you say? comedogenicity categorizes the degree to which oils are likely to clog your pores, which can lead to blackheads, breakouts + angry skin.
comedogenic oils are rated on a scale of 0-5 (0 being the best and 5 being the worst). below is our top 10 list of non-comedogenic oils to incorporate into your skincare routine:
1. hemp seed oil - rating: 0
2. argan oil - rating: 0
3. shea butter - rating: 0
4. sunflower seed oil - rating: 0
5. need oil - rating: 1
6. rosehip oil - rating: 1
7. jojoba oil - rating: 2
8. sweet almond oil - rating: 2
9. olive oil - rating: 2
10. avocado oil - rating: 2
the majority of skincare moisturizers on the market contain water, which acts as a temporary moisturizer (and is also responsible for the thin, light consistency we tend to associate with lotions + creams), but once absorbed (which happens quickly) it leaves your skin thirsty and dry. that's why we have formulated our cream and body butter WITHOUT water. you can feel good about what you're putting on your body and know that 100% of the ingredients contain pure, skin-enhancing goodness that won't clog your pores.
hope this was helpful!
